What exactly is the Big Picture: another 3 years of declining profits, SP, dividends?
A challenge to the second part of the placement/board wont cost any more than the money the current board now appear to tacitly admit they totally wasted on the RECENT “Strategic Review" that recommended doing exactly the opposite of what they are now doing. In fact I thought the review recommended what CVC appear to be suggesting.
I very much doubt that CVC is having any effect on the SP. Most shareholders won’t have even received the letter that was only listed today so they won’t even know about CVC and their challenge.
More likely either the new placees are bailing seeing whatever stag profits they had evaporate (as you'd expect with the dilution) or existing shareholders are bailing because of the dilution/lack of any opportunity for them in all this.
Amazing how misinformation risks becoming "fact".
As far as the "major shareholders", you speak for them do you? They took part in the placement did they? Or did they refuse to tip good money in after bad?
Do you know who other than Wylie and Towners Co owns in any quantity? And Wylie after having opted in at 55c is now happy to be diluted by 50%. While watching the SP plummet below the 26c placement price? You think that insto’s will take an 80% fall on the chin forever?
This has been a long time coming and there will be plenty of very angry (retail and otherwise) shareholders who finally see an opportunity to kick/take back a Co. that has shredded their capital in both AMU and ARW. They’re not BNB or MFS, but then they’re certainly not WPL or KAR either are they?
There might also be shareholders who may see fit to extract some retribution for past misdemeanors, such as the alleged placement of ARW stock to existing shareholders shortly before ARW’s plants were placed on Care and Maintenance. Stock that’s alleged to have been the former MD’s who may have left shortly after that too.
And AMU’s tens of millions it invested? Written off? Totally. Just like ARW’s shareholders.
Its amazing more people haven’t ever asked exactly what soured past strong corporate support for AMU.
A falling SP with POO at $147 doesn’t just happen. A 3 year 80% loss in the SP isn’t bad luck. Not with the assets AMU owns.
Brokers turned their backs on corporate fees because? Peacock and then Wylie were brought on board because? (All good questions but don’t expect management to return calls or answer emails if you ask – They wont)
And the answer? Obviously because management had demonstrated such resounding success with a rising SP to prove it?
Success that clearly has continued?
The GFC has nothing to do with AMU’s 3 year long declining SP: check the chart.
And the way to remedy this? More of the same?
The market may be dumb but it isn’t stupid.
As far as your other "facts":
• Whingers? Who? Shareholders who value their capital more than they value empty talk and blind love for a share. And the Oz Shareholders Association? Whingers too? lol
• Informed, experienced minds? What the same ones that have run this Co and ARW for the last 5 years?
• Reducing debt will lead to a further decline in the SP? Yep right. So why are they raising then?
• A miraculous catalyst free rise to 40c with an extra 100M shares sitting on the market?
With respect that's the sort of logic that has the SP at 25.5c after 3 years of NON STOP depreciation even after numerous reviews, buybacks, discoveries, Management and Board appointments, US sojourns etc etc. You’ll need more than another review (number 4 or 5?) to convince me that more of the same won’t just lead to more of the same - not an instantaneous reversal.
Wasn't that long ago the SP was 43c. So did wind of this raising at such a ridiculous price kill that off to?
Was there any attempt to get the SP up so as to raise at a higher level? No but “good” news came out literally 15 minutes later. Gee that worked.
Finally if they needed cash why did they waste it on the most recent buyback and the now apparently discredited but "professional" review. Or was that done in house too? Seems like a valid question.
Which profession?
The one handling costs in the ARW US operations?
