I agree with you on many fronts.

But the one that stick out the most (Like the proverbials)and the best one is " A geologist may not necessarily have the business acumen to drive the company in the right direction..

That to me is the truth, and spells out plenty. Because, while a Geo is good at finding things, he needs someone else that will lead him in the right direction about developing and expanding a company towards profitability and expansion.

I have seen companies led by Geos that never got anywhere fast and always lacking money, until a financial man with business acumen entered the doors.

IMHO, in a Company there are many different positions, and everyone should be given a task that is most suitable to them. To each his own.
