With Lynas' future prospect heavily reliant on magnets, I try to follow the field reasonably closely.
I've just browsed the attached link; a pretty technical article in the UK Magnetics Society Journal.
I follow one co-author John Ormerod.

Won't be to everyone's taste but technical amongst us may find it useful. I intend to give it a close read.
It's about FeN magnets as a possible alternative to NdFeB specifically, but also provides a fantastic overview of permanent magnets in general including:
    - cost
    - history
    - market share (by $ and kg)
    - processing and possible advances
    - strength and resistance to demagnetisation.

I thought a magnetics thread might be valuable.
