I'm not sure if other people are aware that fossil fuels come from decaying organic matter. Anyway I digress. Did you know that if you take the embryo of nearly every vertebrate and study it via MRI etc you discover that in the early stages they are nearly indistinguishable from each other. If you continue to watch bones develop, you see the a couple of small bones at the base of the head appear. If you keep watching, that bone mores to the ears in humans and most other mammals and to a gill support for fish. It's taken millions of years, but the bones that allow you to hear allow a fish to breathe.
