    Token environmentalism prevails despite the hypocracy prevalent in the landscape. The Church supports that agenda (as a proxy to preventing development), and in Tampakan's case it looks like they have got there way via their influence over the Sth Cot board. After all, the social action director of the (local) diocese of Marbel is family to Sth Cot's environmental board member. If the Sth Cot board could have been bought, it would have happened a long time ago. An assumption that all Philippine politicians can be bought for any purpose is incorrect.

    IMO, it looks more certain than ever now, if the local LGU's oppose mining then forget it. That opinion is based on the fall out of the new policy on a wider perspective than just Tampakan. So, IMO, it is time to move on. Go where mining is locally welcome, anywhere else the door is shut. At least now, some certainty has been achieved for those exploring in the country.
