yes, historically both Libs and Labs have used "independents" to funnel preferences to their party, the scroungers.
the teals indis are a very different kettle of fish though brucey. they are generally more centrist than right or left. this makes them tremendously viable and the manner of how they consult the electorate and gain insights into different perspectives on bills etc set them far apart from the bleating Party sheep.
but yes it certainly depends on the individual.... many are just in it so they can say "I ran for parliament" or are single issue protesters (as I would be if I ran)
having said that I don't have complete confidence in Climate 200 either, but the quality of the teal members is very high.

so far climate 200 is targeting Lib seats. I';m in a very safe, high margin Nat seat. the quality of indis here is rather poor by my assessment.
