“A company or registered scheme must allow anyone to inspect a register. If the register is not kept on a computer, the person inspects the register itself. If the register is kept on a computer, the person inspects the register by computer.”
There are conditions though, one of the conditions is that they cannot:
use information about a person obtained from a register kept under this Chapter to contact or send material to the person
imo, that recent courtroom showdown between Fat Tail Holdings and AVZ in WA might just boil down to Fat Tail's bid to out-manoeuvre the above clause.
And, well, with all the unsolicited junk mail flooding in, it seems like Fat Tail might have pulled it off.
