Great article.
As much as I would love to see a ICE car ban for Australia...I think it's a mute point.
I've been re-watching all of Tony Seba's video's and re-read his solar book.
(to basically get my head re-set on looking at the forest, not the trees.)
Most other countries have put ICE car bans in by 20-25/30.
So, the car makers MUST switch over.
As stated above...Australia ONLY imports cars so it won't be a option.
Plus, they'll be MORE expensive and even the V8's won't be able to keep up on performance.
Going OT a bit...
I get The Australian government love affair with COAL and to a lesser degree gas.
However, I DON'T get the ICE love in.
It JUST can't be the fuel tax? Can it?
Governments around the world are experts taxing their ppl.
It would be easy to come up with a bunch of usage taxes RIGHT NOW and do away with the petrol tax.
A combo of...
-speedometer,
-flat tax 20,000 kms a year (you then prove to the gov. you don't drive that much.)
-Tax distance tolls.
-City/rural/regional tolls etc. ? (You drive on a road over and over and it needs repair every 10 years...you help pay for it.)
-or many other rego taxes.
*I don't like any of the above but, the current fuel tax is about 50-60 cents. I've love to fill up for 60 cents a litre...
you might even get ppl. traveling a bit more and helping regional Australia etc.
My point...
Denmark and Norway, which are big OIL countries lead the world in EV take up.
Why, because it's the right thing to do for their ppl.
Why do Australian politicians hate the Australian people so much?
Hopefully the next FED election we can fix it.
IMO
DYOR!!
