"Perth Airport is set to break through the million passengers in month barrier next year as it grows at twice the national average to support the resources industry.
For the month of October the airport set a new record of 914,000 passengers as it bucked the international air travel downturn and it is now ranked one of the world's fastest-growing capital city airports, according to trade journal Air Transport World.
Only airports in China, India and the Middle East grew at a faster rate.
In WA, the boom in regional, budget and resource-related flights has been unprecedented, while low-cost airlines' share of the international market to and from Australia jumped 6.6 per cent to 17.9 per cent in October."
