I'd also suggest units under $2,000 at current prices, for when the day comes you may want to unload some, the smaller units will be less likely to set off alarm bells.
To me short term isn't the way to look at phizzy Au/Ag, so only purchase if you can take a longer view, and consider it forced savings that can't be pissed up against a wall very easily.
My window on silver is 15 to 20 odd years :IE retirement, so price manipulation/surpression suits me fine. In fact I find it very amusing, along with the associated jibber such as here on the commodities forum.
