What makes you think they serial numbers are for actual physical silver. If they are for future production then your holding paper, which is the exact reason you buy silver, because you dont trust paper.
To me you buy silver and gold, because you believe its going to increase in price as paper assets depreciate or default. So why on earth would you want to hold paper silver, rather then physical silver.
Secondly the US history should teach us that the govt cannot be trusted when a currency defaults, you need to hold the silver or gold, as the govt will simply make taking delivery of silver or gold illegal.
What makes you think they serial numbers are for actual physical...
