Mining is definitely picking up, we are struggling to get qualified FIFO HD fitters where i work. Might have to start looking at 457's again. Still nowhere near the boom times but when the bust hit all of the Eastern Staters went back home, and "once bitten, twice shy" there aren't as many coming back over this time around.
If you go to Northbridge on a Saturday night a lot of the bars and clubs are still full but there's no line to get a drink. Not like 5-10 years ago. Entry is free, drinks are too expensive.
There seems to be an ever widening gap between the haves and the have nots. I don't think we will see too much movement in the higher end of the market, but I think the rest of the market will continue a slow decline for the next couple years at least.
