The state government has tried to develop Perth city at the expense of other areas, but Fremantle is still has a better vibe. I lived in West Perth for a while, the city could be totally dead at certain times, while Freo would be booming with visitors.
There is a rail line already established from the south into Freo but the state government wont upgrade to public transport, preferring to try and channel to Perth, which is stupidity, people want to work and visit there from the South.
Freo is one of the most resilient real estate areas because people want to live there for lifestyle. I started looking at investment properties in 1989 in Freo, never brought there purely due to high historically high prices.
I understand both Perth city and Froe have homeless people, are the ones in the city invisible to some.
