    Al, look up the SEAFRAME measuring stations, they are super-accurate and allow for subsidence, rising of the land mass. And they don't measure the height of the water, they measure the pressure at the bottom of a column of water. Logic tells me that you could calibrate the size of the hole to the surrounding water so you get a very damped effect on the change of water level, thus negating any wave action. Of course barometric pressure is read at the same time and adjusted for.

    They have these stations around Australia and the threatened atolls in the Indian and Pacific oceans. Twenty years of data does not support the alarmist cause.
