    The strengths of LFP batteries are often highlighted in a skewed manner. As usual, the skewed position tends to be silent on the strengths of the NMC batteries or the SS batteries.
    Furthermore, there are many other EV battery innovators around the world, all of them determined to bring out their R&D alternatives, using sodium-ion, graphene, tungsten-Li, organo-silicon, etc.
    Under current tech available, there is no one size fits all, despite the unsubstantiated claims of various fanboys and fangirls. One battery's strengths can be considered rather like the weaknesses of the other.

    LFP:
    Greater durability under heat and high voltage.
    Cheaper.
    Slower degradation.
    More recharge cycles.
    Less use of conflict materials (cobalt).
    Suitable for industrial/commercial BESS.

    NMC:
    More energy density.
    More power and range.
    Faster recharging.
    Older EV batteries are suitable for domestic BESS.

    Solid State and Semi-SS:
    It's a much improved version of NMC.
    Operating temperature range of -40C to 120C, depending on chemistry.
    But the cost of production is a huge obstacle.
    Likely to require 5 more years of R&D to be economically competitive to LFP and NCM.

    On another subject, but related to EV and BESS batteries... black mass.
    It is produced from recycling batteries and is a good industry to learn more about in preparatoin for future investment.
    Why future? Because ev batteries have a life of 10+ years. The forecast is that global demand for industrial recycling of the increasing volume of discarded ev batteries will get urgent in 10 years' time.

    Black mass is the black gooey stuff remaining after most of the plastics, aluminium, copper and ferrous metals are removed. It is said to have the highest percentage content in Li, Ni, Mn, Co, and other battery elements, depending on the relevant battery chemistry.
    Even the highest grade natural mineral resources cannot compare to the mineral content of black mass, which is actually the synthetic form of polymetallic proven reserves.

    A point to consider is whether there will come a time when the black mass and other metals recycling industry can become a serious metals production rival to the traditional mining industry, particularly to junior miners.
