Nickel price looks like having a crack at 13,000 soon on LME. Reports Indonesia looking to ban nickel ore export from 2022, this is part of Indonesian strategy to increase local processing/value adding.
At the same time nickel mining is damaging local communities and offering disproportionately low value to local people.
Sovereign risk will be priced in to deal making by auto makers. Good to read in separate news Tesla is gearing up for their next production ramp at Fremont, and Shanghai. If they can double production again by next year they will almost certainly guarantee themselves a lions share of the next decades EV opportunity
