Petrobras Considering Two New Refineries in Brazil


City of Industry, CA --(www.FinancialNewsUSA.com)-- 05/23/2008 - Petrobras (NYSE: PBR) (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) is studying the possibility of building a 500,000-barrel-per-day (BBL/d) refinery worth between $8 billion and $10 billion in Brazil. A location for the refinery has not been disclosed, but it could be built in Maranhao, Ceara or Rio Grande do Norte because of the benefits of being in northeastern Brazil: large ports and overall proximity to the international market. Authorities are considering a second new refinery but could scrap the plans and instead raise the first refinery's capacity to 600,000 BBL/d.
