Politicians changing the fundamentals of a constitution is dangerous. There must be a lot of dissolution amongst large parts of a population to give such a campaign legs in an election. Unfortunately if they kill off their industry it will only make inequity worse. Knee jerk changes are inherently dangerous as private industry can be very unforgiving particularly large multinationals. Most tier 1 deposits last 30+ years in operation and hence will go through many political cycles.
