Cyclists in groups on winding country roads who claim the right to ride 2 abreast because "it makes it easier and quicker for motorists to overtake as the length of the convoy is halved".

The reality is that 90% of the time they ride in single file with just one pair at the back side by side. That makes their slow moving convoy as long and as wide as possible while forcing motorists onto the other side of the road to get past, compromising the safety of other road users.

To rub salt into the wound they only go 2 abreast at the rear when they hear a motorist approaching to put their life at risk to give them even more clearance than they already get under the new regulations.

If only they realised that they simply lose the respect and consideration of motorists by being so blatantly selfish and taking advantage of regulations designed to afford them extra safety.
