Sundance Resources finance chief Peter Canterbury is moving to Western Australia-based explorer Bauxite Resources to to take up his first permanent CEO job.
Canterbury has been CFO at Sundance for six years and became acting chief executive in 2010 after the death of the then CEO and the entire board in a plane crash in Republic of Congo in Africa.
Sundance is in the middle of a takeover bid from Sichuan Hanlong (Group) Co.
Canterbury, however, said this hadn’t prompted his move to Bauxite, where he will take up his new role in May.
“I had been involved in the project six years and I have just finished the [benchmark Mining] Convention with the Cameroon government. We’re fairly close to closing the deal with Hanlong; I was approached by Bauxite and it fitted with my experience and [career plans],” he said.
