Makes one wonder how good Ergo are. From their home page:
"Ergo Exergy's portfolio of global eUCG™ projects is growing month by month. We are proud to present some of the industrial projects around the globe that rely on our technology as a source of hydrocarbons - and, ultimately, a source of financial success:
Majuba, South Africa - Eskom
Parkland County, Alberta, Canada – Laurus Energy
Rajasthan, India – GAIL Ltd
Chinchilla, Qld, Australia – Linc Energy Ltd
Abhijeet, India – AE Coal Technologies Ltd
Huntly West, New Zealand – Solid Energy New Zealand
Kingaroy, Australia – Cougar Energy
Stone Horne Ridge, Alaska, USA – CIRI/Laurus Energy
Thar, Pakistan – Cougar Energy UK"
Nine projects above. So Linc and Cougar representing a third of the projects are supposed to be relying "on our technology as a source of hydrocarbons". Wonder what their progress is like at Kingaroy, Chinchilla, and Thar are progressing, along with the rest on the list.
Chinchilla instead utilizes the Fischer Troph system. This seems to have a greater commercialised set up.
Commercialization
Sasol PetroSA Shell middle distillate synthesis Ras Laffan, Qatar UPM (Finland) Rentech (Colorado, U.S.) In the United States, some coal-producing states have invested in Fischer–Tropsch plants. In Pennsylvania, Waste Management and Processors, Inc. was funded by the state to implement Fischer–Tropsch technology licensed from Shell and Sasol to convert so-called waste coal (leftovers from the mining process) into low-sulfur diesel fuel.
Research developments
U.S. Air Force certification Carbon dioxide reuse
In addition, while many alternative fuels require completely separate distribution systems, Fischer-Tropsch fuels can use the existing fuel distribution infrastructure. This means the fuels can be transported in the same ships and pipelines as crude oil.
