As a matter of interest what damage has been inflicted? Is it the budget surpluses or the 800 000 jobs that have been created while cutting inflation from nearly 8% to 3.6% that has you catastrophising? I can understand criticism of the government on the basis of it having a somewhat diffident and piecemeal approach to addressing significant structural issues, not the criticism that the government has been in any way a disaster. They've fared relatively well given they inherited interest rates at 0.35% with inflation at 7.8% and the policy response required by that circumstance.
