I'm not sure it helps Christendom to present such a subject as if it were a competition, or that there was a conflict of some sort between these two, or that Paul usurped Peter somehow. In general Peter and Paul were not so dissimilar in their thinking.
I have seen it written that one's conduct must be like Paul's and one's faith must be like Peters.
Both died for their love of Christ, is that not the greater proof of their unity of spirt?
