Imagine one day when companies like Zip gets to a size which will command a good economy of scale....
money will just work in a loop and gets recycled in its own eco system.....so merchants will use Zip money as working capital, customers using zip as daily spends...while zip takes a % of each transaction..... it will be such a profitable business...and because its a Fintech...overhead will be low when reaching a certain scale... efficiency can be improved Very quickly and easily with AI and altering the algorithms ...... tencent by using wechat as a social and payment platform has access to its user's savings/spending history...so they can easily approve credits with very low risk because they can SEE everything and know Everthing about you..... Hopefully Zip can be like that one day....
On top of that... when Zip gets to a certain size and it's already happening... zip app can be used as both a marketing/advertising/shopping tool ... as more and more merchants join....when you are buying your next gift/grocery/goods etc...you will just browse using your zip app...instead of logging into various websites..... you will have all that available in your app...
furthermore, as more and more data gets collected...zip will be able to know your spending habits, credit history, birthdays, anniversaries etc... so they can customise or give you push notifications on gifts etc....merchants can buy this data or use this data from zip and increase their sales.... other institutions might be able to also buy this data from zip to assess the creditworthiness of a particular person..
As Zip grows internationally, using zip in ANZ will be the same as using it in USA or UK or Canada... you can avoid transaction fees, can lock in exchange rates.... it will be super convenient ...why would you want a CC ?
Just some of the things I can think of..... huge potentials...... every great investment starts with a goal and dream... Zip might get there or might not..who knows.... but Peter and Larry seems to have the ability and ambition to do so...
