the guy has been in parliament for 30 years, and is 64 years old - one assumes that he would have a good pension, and no big deal if he is unemployed - a lot of 60 year old people are unemployed.
he didn't get the nick name "slippery pete" for no reason.
he served his purpose for gillard - and one assumes that no one in labor is interested in him anymore - and he was a turncoat for the libs - so he would not have many friends in the liberal party.
oh well, at least he got to wander around in robes, in parliament.
from what has been revealed about the person, it is not a surprise that his wife has better things to do these days
