I have no problems with that as realistically we want a sustainable economy for the future generations. The requirements for oil will continue as we know it to run the ships, trucks, earth moving machinery, farming equipment, etc. Unless of course they start getting into liquefied natural gas to run the trucks etc.

It'll be good if we reduce the dependency of oil for each car by at least 75%, which will reduce the impact of any future oil shocks down the track. As it is now an internal combustion engine converts only about 22% of the available energy from petrol into vehicle motion. A Diesel is about 35% efficient. That's why they need radiators due to heat loss caused by wastage, as well as the exhaust. An electrical engine rarely needs a cooling system because they are almost 100% efficient. The future is rapidly getting better when it comes to moving away from oil dependency because there is now a cause. Until now it was not economic to invest in alternative fuel systems because oil/petrol was plentiful and the world appeared to be uneffected.

As it is things are not we intended them to be. The progression in new systems is exciting to witness
