Took my pet to a referred specialist today because it developed a large lump/tumour on its stomach and had a damaged or malformed tooth. Got there at 9.30am spoke to the vet for about 1/2 an hour and paid upfront $590 for X-rays of the lump and teeth and what other tests to see if surgery was worth a crack and initialled and signed about 10 clauses removing them from all sorts of liability .Interesting when i later looked at the receipt there wasn’t any detail on it at all other than a reference number and the amount.
Anyway I was keen for them to move straight on to the surgery if the X-rays didn’t give a totally negative diagnosis.
I was told we will ring u around mid day with the results and the way forward.
2.00 pm still no call..had been in an area with limited coverage so gave them a call in case they hadn’t been able to get thru. Was told no we haven’t tried to contact you yet but will be in touch later.
4.30pm still no call...I’m thinking maybe I wrote the Mobile number down incorrectly and am getting a little concerned because the practice is 1/2 hour drive away and I notice on the website it closes at 6.00pm.
So ring again..no we have your number and think she’s just gone in for testing now and we are very sorry but we have had an unusual amount of emergencies come in today.
5.30 I get a call “hi she’s fine very comfortable ,we’ll keep her overnight for no charge and do the procedures tomorrow.
I said what procedures assuming the X-rays had given the go ahead on dental work or the removal of the tumour?
The vet said “the X-rays, I’m sorry we were too busy today to do it”
Probably taken animals 30 times to vets before and this would be the first time and in a whole day they didn’t get around to do a few X-rays let alone any surgery.
Very reluctant now to let these people go ahead with any possible surgery .
