If the revised, increased TPG Capital bid for IVC (A$13 cash per share) succeeds - it has been recommended by the BOD - then PFP will be the only listed death care provider in Australia (and possibly the only listed form to cover New Zealand - I've not checked the latter).
This on its own may not be sufficient to increase the SP, as good future prospects and current NPATs plus pleasing cashflow and sound management are key.
However, if PFP can raise its metrics and payouts to more effectively 'compete' with higher savings interest rates, and other scrip perceived as more exciting, it'll be of assistance.
PFP is steadily expanding with accretive additions.
Do we believe IVC when it claims to have increased its market share? Even if so, this hasn't been reflected in its financial performance, or its SP prior to the takeover bid being lobbed, and subsequently after initial rejection, revised to a 45 per cent premium to IVC's last closing price.
PFP still lacks total geographic coverage of Australian metropolitan areas, being absent from Melbourne, but no doubt it rigorously assesses reasonably priced opportunities. It may have decided that better opportunities lay elsewhere. There also have to be businesses for sale. Dominant ones such as family-owned Tobin Brothers does not appear to be.
