SQM hold the water rights for the area they mine in. However CORFO the government body have the last say. Ramping up Li production from their brine will be closely monitored as water is in very short supply.
People live there. A hefty tax will also be applied.
SQM won't be leaving KDR as a piece of dirt for the future as they need to have it up and running to fill customer orders especially from 2022 to 2025 where demand will outstrip supply from more recent reports I have read.
We still need to see if Corfo agrees to the Tianqi SQM deal in August. Not sure if this will effect KDR share price.
