Hi Joe, I'm not big on conspiracies as such, but sometimes a little tactical trading might make sense.

Often in the close there has been a few measly shares offered to bring it back to 60c. These aren't placed until after 4:10, typically about 4:10:20 just before the match goes through. You don't usually get that sort of behaviour from your average mum and dad investor. One of the reasons could be that daily closes might be handy in negotiating cross trades. I didn't see any today, but there was at least 2 at 500k each yesterday, both 60c I think. half a cent here and there makes a noticeable difference when your buying $600,000 of stock in a day.
