There really is no other effective and low side effect NRTI at this stage in development.
If the FDA sees the potential role of ATC as I do, as a very widespread treatment in children as well as adults, and possibly as first line therapy due to its excellent side effect profile; then you want more studies done before it is released. If it was to be only a marginal drug for salvage therapy on those who have failed everything else only, it may not need all these extra trials. So this may well be a strong positive.
