I am not familiar with the oil/mining stocks in the US. But looking at AUS which more and more big oil/mining companies are looking for taking a big stake of the ev/green energy. look at BHP RIO IGO and etc.
It is more likely that Phillips approached NVX not the other way around
Plus the REAL 'big oil' is the US government, if they have endorsed the green is the future and don't want to lose in the current race, all other oil companies should know where to go
