He was asked to resign from MinRes, as he was married to Gina's daughter Hope. Gina had a deal with MinRes and saw his position as a conflict of interest in an up and coming courtcase. On the 30 Apr 2021 — He was quoted as "Gina Rinehart's ex son-in-law Ryan Welker says he's a coal guy these days" Lake Giles was once owned by a Coal Company. Then MacArthur came along.
