So a $US7,500 tax credit for each EV built in USA using US lithium.
"It is estimated that there’s about 63 kg of lithium in a 70 kWh Tesla Model S battery pack, which weighs over 1,000 lbs (~453 kg)."
https://electrek.co/2016/11/01/breakdown-raw-materials-tesla-batteries-possible-bottleneck/
63kg of lithium is around 335kg (0.335t) of LCE.
Phoenix has an initial resource of 12.4Mt LCE in East Brawley. Little doubt there is plenty more in their Salton Sea tenements.
12.4Mt could supply the lithium requirements of 37 million model S Tesla's.
The tax credit on those 37million Tesla's is currently worth US$277 billion.
Let's say they end up with a reserve of 1.5Mt LCE.
1.5Mt can supply the lithium requirements of 4.48 million model S Tesla's.
The tax credit on those 4.48 million Tesla's is currently worth US$33.5 billion.
Subtract say up to $US2-3 billion for a large scale lithium carbonate plant at East Brawley and you still have over US$30 billion worth of tax credits by owning Phoenix's reserve.
That's too simplistic and I know it won't be valued at that but it looks like a very attractive asset to own long term just for the tax credits alone.
