As I am in US I don't get these calls, thank goodness. But to chime in, my understanding is the SPP requires retail investors to put up cash upfront in specific amounts to get the opportunity to buy some unknown quantity of shares at an as yet undetermined price in the future? If I had the opportunity re the SPP, I too would rather buy now at this low SP price rather than having an added level of stress of not knowing the outcome for a while (too much of this with LYC already ... I don't need more)
I guess (?) the bank (or whichever entity handling this) gets to use all the money that the retail investors have deposited to generate some cash (for themselves) until the SPP is over and unused deposit balances returned to the owners? Or is this not allowed by regs?
I am hoping the SP in the US gets a little more attractive (closed at US 69 cents Friday) so I can buy some to lower my average cost.
