It is my belief that a change of management will bring in a potential easier navigation of bureaucratic barriers, bring a network for financing and inject some energy and a high performing team culture into TNG. Here is why:
Paul Burton: the biggest indicator of his engagement with key stakeholders is in the Darwin East Arm farce. East Arm was allocated to TNG many years ago. I'm an not sure on the conditions placed on the allocation but given history, it wasn't unconditional. Along the line somewhere, East Arm was earmarked as a Hydrogen Hub by gov. Anyway, PB came stumbling along many years later, hired the environ contractor to do EIS and waited so he could tick EIS off his list. If he was truly engaged with the EPA, if his relationship with Dr Vogel was as great as he makes out, he would have been given a heads up. Instead, we wasted time, money and eventually burned the relationship when we didn't get our EIS approved.
GW: A few years ago, the NT Electoral office wanted to combine an electorate with another one but unfortunately, the affected electorate had a small, largely indigenous population and they would effectively lose their voice in Parliament. GW lobbied and had the law changed to keep this electorate as its own. All of this without any vested interest in the region.
Which candidate sounds like they could affect progress at TNG?
