No, asking him to step down goes nowhere towards progressing TNG and Mt Peake. It's not about getting rid of PB for me. He's out of his depth but he's not the enemy. He has not stopped the appointment of a single director to my knowledge.
It's about getting the best team to take TNG into its next phase. If I was choosing a team from a blank slate, the guy who found the resource, developed the tech, and worked on the project and with the existing partners for the last 15 odd years would get a guernsey. Call me crazy.
