My next vehicle will be an EV.....and that's from someone who spent his life working in the oil and gas industry.
Yesterday once my Tesla home battery reached full charge my PV system pumped 68kWh into the grid for a pittance (15c per kWh for first 14kWh and 5c per kWh for the rest). Once my current contract runs out with AGL I'll be earning even less from my feed in. That 68kWh would have pretty well fully charged a decent sized EV. Running an EV makes economic sense for me.
New Zealand has also dumped its EV subsidy.....but that's due to a change to a government that would rather see people hooning around in oversized Utes that don't even meet emissions standards of most other 1st word countries.
