It actually sounds like the figure has been embellished somewhat....I suspect its actually come from the anti-EV brigades list of standard reasons not to buy an EV. Your mate's mate has had to replace a battery pack on his EV....my neighbour had to replace engine on her new Kia ICE SUV. All the above aside I agree that EVs and other green technologies should be part of a lower reliance on oil and gas not a replacement for same.

Why would the replacement battery cost be embellished? The cost to replace the battery on a Mercedes EQS is around $50k.
