Gas seeping into a well means two things:
1. formation pressure is close to well mud column hydrostatic pressure
2. you have enough permeability for the gas from near the borehole wall to move into the bore.
Note that having sufficient near borehole permeability to allow migration of gas into a well isnt the same as having sufficient permeability a lot further out into the formation to lead to a decent flow test.
The trip and connection gas is of course encouraging but I wouldnt make a prediction of flow test results based on the latter alone.
