Ray as far as I am aware K2O is not used as a fertiliser certainly on a broadacre scale (read the bulk market). My knowledge base is really only limited to the sulphate and chloride salts of potassium. I don't know anything about potassium oxide other than it would need to be reacted with an acid (either hydrochloric or sulphuric) in order to produce the soluble salts used in agriculture and so there would be extra cost there.
