You don't have to rely on someones word if you own gold or silver.
Gold and silver cannot be counterfeited.
In a world where people don't trust each other, what would you use as a medium of exchange?
I would assume that if you use bullets, you will go to prison. (but then you would get free food so your idea has some logic to it).
