Guys GLX are NOT doing UCG. If you think turning coal into syngas underground and on the surface is similar then I suggest you read more about it - its fndamentally different even though in principle its all coal gasification.
The syngas composition is very different. The efficiency and resource utilisation are different. The technology is very different.
Agree GLX is technically similar to Monash Energy, but don't agree simialr to Hydrogen Energy - BP with JV partner Rio Tinto plan to make hydrogen mostly which is very different from making FT-liquids from syngas.
As far as I know all CTL projects are stalled - including Monash Energy - which is doing not much and saying not much. But my sources say this project is struggling. CTL is capital intensive and CO2 intensive which are two good reasons to worry!
But anyway I am hopeful.
