Equinox are picking up the pace as they head towards development of the huge Lumwana copper/cobalt resource in Zambia.

Phelps Dodge are transferring their 49% interest in the project to EQN and with it full ownership with the transaction due for finalization shortly, according to recent reports.

Management have indicated their preference to then introduce a new j.v partner who have the mine development & financial capabilities to progress the project although they seem flexible as to the final j.v arrangement.

Only this week EQN have engaged a project financing specialist to raise the funds needed to progress the project which indicates that the coy may be preparing to assume a major role in the new j.v.

With the current drilling of more priority copper targets within trucking distance of the proposed plant site plus involvement in the Zambezi j.v with Anglo American backed up by a number of advancing exploration projects in Australia, Sweden and Peru I think the progress of EQN is becoming a compelling story.
