Usually when you see Eye of Newt, it refers to witches making a potion.
However, when you see this quotation, it usually means that whatever is being made, has a little bit of everything in it...the ingredients are quite extensive...and some of them may not be pleasant. Ingredients mysterious and foreign to us are no doubt familiar to modern day witches.
Over the years the PIF receipt has been altered many times, but still leaves a bitter taste in my mouth. Hopefully the CA and ASIC are able to add some sweetener and spice to the broth.
Double, double toil and trouble;
Fire burn and cauldron bubble.
Fillet of a fenny snake,
In the cauldron boil and bake;
Eye of newt, and toe of frog,
Wool of bat, and tongue of dog,
Adder’s fork, and blind-worm’s sting,
Lizard’s leg, and howlet’s wing,
For a charm of powerful trouble,
Like a hell-broth boil and bubble.
