Although I tend to agree with most of your sentiment, I must say that the novelty of the so called "high life" of constant travel and being away from home definitly wears off after a year or two. I travel a lot for work (probably still only a fraction of what RRS directors do) and I am sick to death of planes, airports and hotels, Also, my destinations dont include dangerous third world countries, where I imagine the accomodation is less than first class. I would guess that PL's current idea of the high life would be a few straight weeks at home with the family.
