One would have to compare the gold deportment with that of the Wits mineralisation. I cannot comment on something of which I know nothing. The depth has nothing to do with it as a lot of Wits 1 reefs actually crop out. As I said there are a lot of conglomerate and sedimentary hosted gold deposits around the globe. I do think that the Wits 1 reefs are prograding fan deltas and the placerists got that right. However, the placer model has enormous flaws, principally the fact that the gold is hosted in shears, commonly with carbon, there is no rational explanation of the sheer amount of gold and the gold particles are out of hydraulic equilibrium. Anyone who believes that the carbon is an algal remnant has never looked down a microscope at the Carbon Leader. Clearly gold post dates carbon which post dates uraninite. Do the petrographic work then lets talk.
