Elons little experiment with less cobalt in the batteries was not that successful as shown with a Tesla recently catching fire. He has extended the life of cobalt in batteries in my view. And"back of napkin" recipes for cobalt free batteries will remain on napkins for an extra 5-10 years. Probably was 5-10 away anyway.
Reality is no manufacturer in today's litigious society wants a repeat of the article in the link below. While obviously not Lithium/battery/cobalt related, the appetite of the public in today's society to accept avoidable failures like the pinto has greatly reduced.
Point being both Lithium and cobalt are here to stay for a fair while yet in my view. And a good cobalt stock to go along with your lithium shares makes sense to me.
