MDMA does not kill people. The higher the purity of MDMA, the less likely people die from shitty additives that are put into the product which are toxic.
You will die way sooner from taking Panadol than you ever will on high purity MDMA. You'd need a good 14 pills all at once to overdose.
The fact that these drugs have zero regulation is the reason people die from them. Plain and simple. The drug cooks cut corners for increased profits and it's at the expense of other people's lives.
It's no different than if Alcohol was illegal.
You'd be buying moonshine off your local producer. Some new guy doesn't know or forgets to get rid of the pure methyl alcohol in the drink and will most definitely kill a bunch of people. Or even worse, he actually KNOWS it can kill you but doesn't care because there's no regulation and it's less effort for him.
It costs $34,000 to run pill testing in Groovin The Moo. It saved two people's lives when 2 pills were discovered to be highly lethal.
I'm not saying tax payers should fund it (is anyone making this argument, actually?).
But the government should not interfere with allowing pill testing to take place.
The 1-day Soundwave festival had a budget of $50M. Pill testing will cost 0.068% of the budget.
In other words, the $200 ticket is now $200.10 - So even if pill testing is mandatory by law at festivals, it's not a financial burden.
I can't fathom what kind of simple minded creature thinks pill testing is a bad idea.

MDMA most likely isn’t the cause of these overdoses (don’t listen to media) it’s adulterated pills full of other chemicals that are sold as ecstasy.
The reason more and more kids are dying of pills (not MDMA), is because authorities have cracked down on precursor chemicals that make MDMA, so makers are putting more toxic chemicals in these pills, to give a similar effect.
