This is an FTO silencing model (siRNA), @Waynecarey. It is essentially reducing the translation of FTO. When you use this modality to inhibit the function of FTO, roughly 40% of mice survive in this model (below). When you do not, there is 0% survival in the same model. Entacapone FTO inhibition is the second B chart.
I believe that they have used Entacapone in this model because it has been used previously to inhibit the protein FOX01 (1). The FOX01 mechanism was implicated in septic shock. It would have been good to see Bisantrene used instead.
